Erzsebetvaros (it. Elisabethstadt or English. Elizabethtown) - the 7th district of Budapest, which is located on the pest side of the Danube. Central inland part of the district was occupied by the historic Jewish quarter of pest. In Erzsebetvaros there is also a Synagogue in the dohány street is the largest active synagogue in Europe.

Currently it is the most populous district of Budapest with a population density of 30 thousand people per square kilometer. In 1910, Erzsebetvaros lived 152 454 inhabitants. In the era of socialism the people of Erzsebetvaros decreased significantly, because young people and families quickly moved into a "prefab" houses new areas (Újpest, Újbuda, Óbuda, Kispest, etc.). The restoration of the historic buildings in the area and new luxury housing boom was in the mid 2000-ies.
