Natural history Museum is located in a historic building in the centre of Burgas. The history of the Museum complex began in 1951, when in Burgas opened a temporary exhibition. Among 600 exhibits were submitted to the minerals, fossils, birds, and mammals. In 1974, as a result of the expedition in Strandzha, Sakar mountain and the black sea coast in the Museum has many specimens of vertebrates. 23 may 1985 saw the official opening of artistically designed and structured exposition.

The collection is housed in six rooms with a total area of 250 square meters. It has over 1700 exhibits, 299 drawings and maps, 102 photograph. Studying Museum exhibitions, visitors can fully experience the rich natural region of Bourgas.

Exhibition in the science Museum is divided into four sections.

Section "Geology" on the history and characteristics of the geological development of the region. The main findings are brought from the coast of the Black sea, from the Strandzha mountain, the Eastern Balkans and the flat part of the district of Bourgas. At the exhibition you can see rocks and minerals Archean, Paleozoic and Mesozoic rocks and fossils of the Cenozoic era, about 40 species paleontological samples (horns of red deer, mastodon tooth, the jaw of a rhinoceros, etc.) and more than 25 types of soil, typical for this region.

In the "Botanica" show examples of vegetation (including endangered and protected species) coastal Sands, wetlands, and forest areas. The exhibition includes more than 68 families of plants.

In the collection "Invertebrate" contains about 1000 species of animals – protozoa, coelenterates, terrestrial, freshwater, and marine arthropods mollusks, crabs, Scorpions and insects.

In "Vertebrate" you can see about 320 animals: fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. All exhibits are arranged according to the principle of evolutionary development.
