One of the most significant attractions of the town of Melnik – the local castle, owned by the Lobkowicz family. In it still lives the family of the count, who himself conducts tours and very interesting talks about the history of his family, local land, town and castle, and also shows a luxurious collection of paintings by famous Czech artists. Count Lobkowicz is winemaking and produces a wine that is only sold in the gift shop at the castle, and also served in several cafes and restaurants Miller.

Melnik castle has a rich and very ancient history. The fortress, around which formed a city that appeared in local places in the IX century. At the time it was a wooden castle, created for military and defense purposes. Then erected a stone fortress, which was uncomfortable, dark and not suitable for life. In the XVI century it undergoes a major overhaul. The result of the efforts of a few architects can be considered a magnificent Palace, which has remained almost unchanged thereafter.

Melnik castle in the historical literature called ladies. For several centuries it belonged to the Czech crown and served as the place for references of the objectionable Queens, with whom it was impossible to get a divorce, but you can banish them from Prague out of sight.
