Museo Julio Romero de Torres is located in Cordova in the former hospital for the poor, which also houses the Museum of Fine arts of córdoba. Museum dedicated to the life and work of the famous Cordoban painter Julio Romero de Torres. Julio Romero de Torres, the son of the painter Rafael Romero Barros, who in his time in Cordoba Provincial Museum of fine arts, was born in Cordoba and spent a considerable part of his life. He studied and lived in Madrid, traveled extensively in Europe and South America, but always returned to his native Cordoba, which felt an overwhelming connection. It is the hometown became a subject for many paintings.
In the work of the painter traced several artistic styles. It is popular in the period, realism, impressionism, love to which was grafted to the artist the paintings of his father, and symbolism.
After the artist's death on may 10, 1930, his widow and children decided to create a Museum dedicated to his memory. The Grand opening of the Museum took place on November 23, 1931. After a few years the Museum moved to a specially purchased for him the house. The Museum has preserved furniture, personal belongings of the painter and also his library. Among the works exhibited here, a lot of portraits, paintings, dedicated to the beloved Cordoba, as well as paintings on biblical themes.
