Military Museum Darwin was established as an artillery Museum by the Royal artillery Association of Australia to showcase photos and other artifacts from the history of Darwin during the Second World war. Today the Museum collection includes many items related to the activities of the Navy, army and air force not only Australia but also the USA and other allies. It features real installation of shotcrete and other fortifications with one of the most fortified areas of Australia during the war. In 1943, in Darwin and the surrounding area was based more than 100 thousand troops. It was from here that General Douglas MacArthur launched the campaign for the liberation of the Philippine capital of Manila from Japanese occupation. During the war, Darwin was bombed 64 times in 2 years! According to various sources as a result of these attacks killed from 243 to 1000 people (on a plaque on the promenade is listed in figure 292).

The creation of the Museum began in the 1960-ies due to the destruction of the fortifications of East point. First of all under the protection of the area around 9, 2-inch gun command post – it boom. The other two six-inch guns that had been vandalized, too, were transported for the fences with their former places. The Royal artillery Association of Australia has constantly added to his collection of weapons, vehicles and other items of military history. Once open only on weekends, today the Museum is open seven days a week. In 2008 the state government's Northern Territory has announced his intention to spend 10 million Australian dollars to various projects for the Museum.
