The Eggenberg Palace, located 3 km from Graz, was built in 1625-1635 years in the style of mannerism. It was conceived as an allegory of time and the universe. Four corner towers symbolize the four seasons, gate 12 – 12 months, and 365 Windows – the number of days in a year.
The interior of the Palace is designed in the Baroque and Rococo and oversaturated moldings, ceiling painting, paintings, crystal and vintage furniture made from rare wood. The walls and ceiling of the Ceremonial hall are painted with signs of the zodiac, so it is also called Planetary hall.
The Museum wing is part of the Museum of Styria. The most valuable exhibit of the collection is a bronze chariot from Strattera VII century BC depicting a scene of sacrifice. You can also see the collection of coins and medals.
