Located in the old part of the wonderful city of Hyderabad near Charminar, the Mecca Masjid mosque is one of the oldest and largest mosques in India.
Mastermind behind the construction of the Mecca Masjid in 1614 became the ruler of the Sultanate of Golconda Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah, who decided to migrate to India a part of the Holy for all Muslims in the land of Mecca, therefore, by his order from there was taken the land from which the bricks were made for the Central arch of the new mosque. The building was completed in 1694 won Golconda Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.
Granite Mecca Masjid can hold simultaneously about 10 thousand people. Its huge main hall with a height of 22 meters is surrounded by 15 beautiful arches, and the walls are decorated with carved friezes and stucco. The mosque is a special pond to wash their hands, and with one end are two stone benches and, according to legend, anyone who sat on them, will definitely return to this mosque.
Entrance leading into the courtyard, is a long, arched hallway, decorated with small minarets at the end of which are the tombs of the Rulers of the Assad Jachi and some of the nizams.
