Chrissi island is the small uninhabited Greek island, located approximately 15 km South of Crete (near Ierapetra in the Libyan sea. 700 m to the East of the island is a small islet of Micronise. Both Islands belong to the municipality of Ierapetra (nom Lasithi).

The island is a fairly narrow strip of land with length 5 km, width 1 km and the average altitude is 10 m. the highest hill of the island is called "kafala" and has a height of 31 m. the hill offers stunning views of the forest of Lebanon cedar, perhaps the last such forest in Europe. The density of trees is 28 units per hectare, average height of the same tree 7 m and the average age of 200 years.

In the Western part of the island you can see the well preserved old chapel of St. Nicholas (presumably 13th century ad), a salt bowl, the old port, the Minoan ruins, some Roman tombs and a lighthouse. In the Byzantine period the main income of the islanders were fishing and salt production. Later, the pirates forced the residents to leave chrysi, and themselves began to use the island as a temporary shelter.

Today, the uninhabited island of chrysi is a conservation area and a favorite place for tourists in summer who want to enjoy the peace and natural nature. Fresh water on the island is missing. Island chrysi famous for its sandy beaches and clear water. As the depth of coastal waters in the South and the North of the island does not exceed 10 m (distance 1 km), snorkeling and diving are popular activities. In the South of the island there is a tavern where you can eat and buy some soft drinks.
