The zoo Ragunan more than 150 years, and it is the third "age" in the world. And the size of the zoo is the world's second largest. Zoo Ragunan was founded in 1864. Famous Indonesian artist Raden Saleh, donated 10 hectares of their land in Central Jakarta for the Foundation of the first zoo in Batavia. At the zoo operates the Primate Centre of Smotzer, opened in 2002. This center is funded privately and is one of the largest such centers in the world. The center occupies 13 hectares. Since February 2014, every Monday the zoo is closed - in animals "day off", in restoring order. If the Monday is a holiday, the zoo will be open, but closed the next day.
