Vathi is a small charming town in the Eastern part of the island of Kalymnos. The settlement is located just 12 km North-East from the island's capital – the city of Póthia and today is a very popular resort centre.

The town of Vathi, nestled in the green fertile valley and on the slopes of the surrounding picturesque hills, is a traditional Greek village. Scenic valley stretches to the coast and ends at the very narrow nature of the Bay, where is located the port of Vathi – Rina. Cutting deep inland Bay and the surrounding steep cliffs create an impressive sight, somewhat Recalling the famous Norwegian fjords. This place is considered one of the most beautiful on the island of Kalymnos.

Today Vathi, the former until recently only a small fishing village, has a fairly well-developed tourist infrastructure. Here you will find a good selection of accommodation and a lot of excellent tavernas and restaurants with a huge choice of dishes of fresh fish and seafood.

Since the region has been inhabited since prehistoric times and has preserved the traces of different epochs and civilizations, to diversify your vacation, you can visit the local attractions – early Christian settlement Rina, the Byzantine churches of the Dormition and the Panagia Ikaria, with well-preserved unique wall frescoes Dating 11-14 centuries, the ruins of the ancient Acropolis of the Embolus (presumably the 4th century BC), the early Christian Basilica of taxiarchis, Daskalio cave and Scienion, prehistoric settlement Castella and more. From the port of Vathy you can go on a fascinating boat trip along the picturesque banks of Kalymnos and visit the incredibly beautiful secluded coves, accessible only by sea.
