Residence Photo: Residence of the Vittoriale degli italiani estate"

The "vittoriale degli italiani estate", which translates as the Temple of Italian victories, is a huge estate, nestled on the mountainside in the town of Gardone Riviera on lake Garda. It was here in 1922, lived the famous Italian writer Gabriele d'annunzio – until his death in 1938. The vittoriale is called the monumental citadel or fascist Luna Park – in any case, this place is surrounded by the same aura of scandal, and the name of its Creator.

The estate consists of residence of d'annunzio called Priory, amphitheatre, a light cruiser of the "Puglia", set directly on the hill, boathouse with class destroyer MAS, who in 1918 was used by the writer, and the arc-shaped mausoleum. The entire territory of the Vittoriale degli italiani estate" is listed as one of the Great Gardens of Italy."

The house – Villa Carnacho – once belonged to the German art historian, and then together with a collection of old books and the piano was played by the great Franz Liszt, was confiscated by the Italian government. In 1921 rented a Villa Gabriele d'annunzio and for the year restored it with the help of the architect Giancarlo Maroni. Thanks to the popularity of the writer and his disagreement with the fascist government of Italy, in particular on the issue of Alliance with Nazi Germany, the Nazis did everything they could to please d'annunzio and keep him away from Rome. In 1924, the estate brought an airplane, at which the writer flew over Vienna during the First World war, scattering pamphlets of her own, a year later, the torpedo boat MAS, with which Gabriele teased by the Austrians in 1918 during the war. Then in the Vittoriale appeared light cruiser Puglia", which is set on a hill in the woods behind the house.

In 1926, the Italian government donated 10 million lire, which was enough for a significant expansion of the territory of the estate, in particular, was built a new wing of the Villa, called Scaramanga. In 1931 construction began on Palladio – amphitheatre, with a splendid view over lake Garda. The mausoleum was designed after the death of d'annunzio and built according to the canons of fascist architecture in 1955. In it are buried the remains of the great Italian.
