Historical Museum in Lovech is one of the most famous museums in the city. Start Museum in Lovech is referred to the February 10, 1895. The oldest materials in the section "Archaeology" refers to the prehistoric era. They were discovered near the banks of the Osum river in the caves of Tabasco, the Womb and Vasil Levski. About one-fifth of the most outstanding monuments of Thracian art in Bulgaria was found in the area of Lovech (Letnitsa, Radouane, Lukovit, Toros, Alexandrovo, etc.)

In the Fund of the Department "History of Bulgaria XV-Jhukov" houses artifacts (including written documents) that describes the peculiarities of economic, political and cultural life of the region during the middle ages and the Bulgarian Revival. Of particular value is a rich collection of ancient manuscripts and books.

In the years of struggle of the Bulgarian citizens for the freedom and independence of the town of Lovech became the revolutionary capital of the country. The events of that time for many years been one of the priority directions of the scientific research centre of the Historical Museum. A product of the staff of the center was opened in February 1954 the Vassil Levski.

The division of "New and modern history of Bulgaria" covers the period from the Liberation from Ottoman rule in 1878 to the present day. Here are the objects, images, documents, and other evidence of political and scientific life of the region and country.
