The original name of the village of Yurino – Arkhangelsk, in honor of the temple built in the 17th century, around which formed a settlement. By the mid-nineteenth century wooden Church in the name of Archangel Michael was no longer accommodate all the parishioners and it was decided to build a new, brick. Money to build new Church collected the donations of people: peasants, workers of enterprises and merchants. A considerable contribution was made by the owners of the famous castle on the river – Sheremetyeva.

From 1869 to 1889 was building Archangel Church, one of the most beautiful Orthodox buildings in Mari land. History has not preserved the name of the architect who created such a magnificent temple to the Russian hinterland. The unusual architecture of the temple belongs to the type of Palace buildings with a mix of styles: Baroque, classical, and eclectic Church. The composition is based on a Central tower topped by a tent unusual shape. Nine domed building with arches (the Gables), towers and chapels made in two colors – red and white, emphasizing the solemnity and elegance of the temple. Inside the vaults and walls were painted Vladimir and Nizhny Novgorod masters. The Church was the graveyard where they buried the clergy, and the family crypt with the remains of the last owners of the estate – Olga Dmitrievna, Vasily Petrovich and their son Peter Sheremetev.

The Church of Archangel Michael is a unique monument of Church architecture of the mid-nineteenth century and a landmark of the Republic of Mari El, located in the immediate vicinity of the Sheremetev castle.
