Museum of history of Belarusian cinema was opened in Minsk in 1976. Its opening was timed Belarusian filmmakers to the 50th anniversary since the release of the first national film "Forest Story". Until 2002, the Museum had a more archival function as a departmental Museum of film Studio Belarusfilm.
Until 1988, the Museum was located in the building of the Church of saints Simon and Helena, where in those years was the filmmakers ' Union of the Byelorussian SSR. In 2002, the Museum opened in a specially adapted recently renovated building – a monument of architecture of the early XX century. Since 2005 the Museum of the Belarusian cinema history is a branch of the State Museum of history of theatrical and musical culture of the Republic of Belarus.
For regular visits opened three floors. On the ground floor there is a modern small cinema hall with 50 seats and a video room for 10 persons for the retrospective screenings of film and video visitors.
The second floor is a permanent exhibition of the Museum. Here are stored the scenery to the world-famous Belarusian films that have become classics of modern cinema, costumes, props. Here is the gallery of fame Belarusian artists who played at Belarusfilm. The total exhibition area – 140 square meters. Themed excursions, events, festivals, meetings with actors, Directors, and other interesting people relevant to Belarusian cinema.
The third floor is reserved for the exhibition. On the area of 100 square meters of themed exhibitions about the history of cinema. Come here with a personal exhibition of cinematographers, artists, animators.
