Moscow State art gallery of people's artist of the USSR Alexander Shilov is on Znamenka street. The gallery is located in a mansion of the early 19th century, built by architect Yevgraf Tyurin.
In 1996, the people's artist of USSR, academician of the Russian Academy of arts A. M. Shilov appealed to the State Duma of the Russian Federation with a proposal to give the Fatherland more than 350 of its best robot. His gift was accepted. By decision of the Government of Moscow was established by the Moscow State art gallery of people's artist of the USSR A. M. Shilov.
The opening of the gallery took place in 1997. From 1998-2003 A. M. Shilov donated another 400 jobs. In 2003 construction was completed on a new building for the gallery by the architect M. M. Posokhin. In 2010 at No. 7 for the first time after the restoration new halls were opened. In the gallery annually hosts exhibitions of new robot author, donated by Russia. Now the collection includes more than 900 works.
The exhibition galleries are portraits, genre paintings, landscapes and still lifes. A special place in the collection section is graphics. Here are often held Meetings at the portrait". They involve characters from the works of A. M. Shilov. Regularly held literary evenings. Organization of concerts of classical and chamber music in the gallery has become a tradition. In concerts attended: Yuri Bashmet, Vladimir Matorin, Zurab Sotkilava, Elena Obraztsova and Igor Butman and many others.
