Unusual tower of wooden planks is not so much an observation post, which is now used as a lookout, how many stylized monument, designed to recall its former glory days. The tower height of 5 meters built on the mountain in the environs of Landeck city on the site of an ancient fortress towering here after 1253.

The fortress, or rather fortified settlement appeared here by order of the Czech ruler after the devastating attacks of the Tatar-Mongol troops and managed by the princes of the neighboring countries. The purpose of the castle was to protect the border areas from any encroachments of the enemy. Czech king also gave orders to build such castles in other appropriate places along the border.

First mention of the castle Landeck we meet in 1297. Unfortunately, the wooden Fort could not withstand the ravages of time, so gradually decayed, dilapidated and to 1518 turned into a pale shadow of himself. Currently from the old fortifications were only a small fragment of the wall.

In 1998 enthusiastic romance decided in memory of the former greatness of the fortress which once decorated these places, to build a tower that resembled his appearance guard construction of ancient cities.
