Pretty famous building of the Grand hotel, which lost traveler will show any resident of Pardubice, was built not so long ago: in the years 1927-1931. Accordingly, it is built in functionalist style that was in Vogue at the time. This style is characterized by simplicity of form and practicality of the content. That is the main task for the customer at the Grand hotel and its creators was to develop a comfortable, spacious and functional rooms. And not important was the appearance of the building. Restraint and austerity, the lack of lush finish – but what can I say, the lack of any finish – here's how you can describe the structure of reinforced concrete with flat roof, consisting of two wings. In one case it was planned to open a restaurant, and in the second hotel. Also in the Grand hotel there was a large Banquet hall that can be used for weddings, anniversaries and other celebrations.
The customer at the Grand hotel was made by a local businessman who understood the demands of the times and the expectations of the public. The building was erected by the architect Josef gočár. Turned out just great entertainment complex that included a hotel with 57 beautifully appointed rooms, some office space, a café and a restaurant, wine cellar, billiard room, club room and so on.
The first guest of the Grand hotel was the first Czech President Tomas Masaryk. He stopped here, 30 may 1931 and spent the Suite the night. Unknown, seems to be working if the owner of the complex opening to the President's visit, or it happened by accident, but now the Grand hotel was forever inscribed in the history of the city and country.
Now at the Grand hotel many offices of local firms.
