The Church of St. Augustine Photo: Church of St. Augustine

San Agustin Church – the old Church, for centuries almost not changed its appearance, despite the long period of Ottoman domination, when it was converted into a mosque. After the end of Turkish rule, the building was transferred to the monks of St. Augustine, who in 1702 began its reconstruction. The building was greatly damaged after a fire in 1750, but was restored again.

The Church has one nave. The interior is distinguished by a polygonal, arches and the body on the upper level. The sacristy was built in 1935. In the chancel is a "Sad virgin" - known work of the Viennese masters, Martin Fisher from the 18th century. Most of the paintings placed on the walls of the Church were created in 1936. The frescoes of the Central part were created by Erno Gebauer in 1941, the other canvases on either side of the altar - pieces of Emil Gadara. Baroque paintings on the sides of the altar deserve special attention. Ciborium is decorated with fine carvings in 1727. The Western facade of the Church is decorated with statues in niches, South facade - three Turkish Windows.

From September 2004 from the Church tower to the square pouring bell music, the solemn hymn of miners, melody popular in Europe at the turn of 19 – 20th centuries
