July 26, 1959 in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on the initiative of Hero of the Soviet Union, submariner, Vice-Admiral G. I. Shchedrin was opened Kamchatka military history Museum. It is only in the North-East of Russia's largest Museum devoted to military issues.
The Museum building is located next to the House of fleet officers. The Museum opened one exhibition and four exhibition halls.
The Museum acquaints visitors with the highlights of the history of the Kamchatka edge from the base of Petropavlovsk port to our days and stages of development based on the territory of Kamchatka armed forces.
In four halls of the Museum are the main tours:
- Excursion to the Museum;
- Military history of Kamchatka;
- Kamchatka expedition of the eighteenth century under the leadership of V. Bering and A. Chirikov;
- The defense of Petropavlovsk port from Anglo-French troops in 1854.
- The Russo-Japanese war of 1904-1905;
- Kamchatka during the great Patriotic war (Kamchatka – front);
Kuril landing operation in 1945.
The Museum is 12,000 units - the collection of foreign and domestic firearms and bladed weapons, medals and decorations, military flags, insignia, samples of military equipment, works of drawing, painting and sculpture.
The Museum has war diaries, photographs, memoirs and letters of the participants of the great Patriotic war and veterans of the Armed Forces. The pride of the Museum – two dioramas "Feat sailors Nicholas Vilkova and Pyotr Ilyichev" (Kuril landing operation 1945) and "the defense of the port of Petropavlovsk in 1854". Among the unique collections of the Museum exhibits, Dating from the time of the Second Kamchatka expedition of Vitus Bering.
Open air on the territory of the Park area of the Museum presents exhibition of military equipment and the monument to the crew of the submarine L-16, who died during the great Patriotic War in the Pacific. I can add description
