The Church of St. Nicholas in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky is located in the building that was previously the cinema "Rodina". Today, the shrines are brought here from all over the world and right here are all the most important Orthodox activities of the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
In 1995, the former cinema "Rodina" was officially transferred to the hands of Petropavlovsk and Kamchatka diocese. For 10 years it housed the temple in the name of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. In addition, there were Diocesan administration, where they spent their pastoral Ministry, Bishop Ignatius and Lord Nestor.
In September of the same year it hosted the opening of the religious education center. The ceremony was attended by the Governor of Kamchatskiy Krai Vladimir Ilyukhin, Bishop of Petropavlovsk and Kamchatka diocese Artemije, head of state administration of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky city district A. A. Valerievich and many other officials of the city and region.
In 2012, through the joint efforts of Petropavlovsk and Kamchatka diocese, the Kamchatka territory and the Governor began work on the reconstruction of the center.
In our days the religious education center is the most modern complex that includes the Church in the name of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, a magnificent auditorium with the latest equipment, a library, a cosy café, a children's theatre and educational classes.
