The Peter and Paul Church in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky is one of the iconic sights of the city. The Church was consecrated in honor of the Holy apostles Peter and Paul, which is considered the heavenly patrons of this city.

The history of the Church began in 1740, when A. Chirikov donated to located on the shores of Avacha Bay village field Church, which was located in the small tent and consecrated in honour of the Nativity of the blessed virgin. Later on it was built a wooden building. In 1766, the building was moved to the river Paratunka, as at the old place there were very few inhabitants. In 1810 the Church was re-consecrated, but in honor of saints Peter and Paul. Four years later was added to the Church chapel and consecrated it in the name of the blessed virgin. But due to weather conditions and poor quality materials used in the construction of the Church building quickly fell into disrepair.

In 1826 he completed construction of a new Church building, which is almost immediately subjected to repeated reconstruction, rebuilt and updated, but the location remained the same. In 1834, the facade of the temple is plated with iron.

With the arrival of the Soviet authorities had confiscated all Church valuables, after which it was closed and later used as a cinema. Somewhere in the middle of this century demolition of the Church building was discovered a very interesting finding - the gospel in ancient gold frame.

In July 1989 N. Dementiev, which authorized the Council for religious Affairs under the USSR Council of Ministers on the Kamchatka region, announced the decision of the Executive Committee to sell to the faithful old building on the street Panfilov. The design of the temple was performed by a professional architect. The Foundation of the Church took place on 12 July, the day of the Holy apostles Peter and Paul. In 1992, the construction of the Church, which was built at the expense of believers, is over.

The Church of Peter and Paul executed in a modernist architectural style, with cupolas instead of gold.
