Natural Park "Persina is located on the Northern border of Bulgaria, along the Danube. The Park has an area of about 22 hectares. "Persina" captures all the Islands of Bulgaria, located in this part of the Danube: Magarity, person, Storica, Has-Berzina, Milka, Limit, Kitka, I, Gradina, Finger and Lakit.
This is the only natural resource with the Bulgarian side of the Danube, which is under protection. The Park received the status of protected by order of the Ministry of environment and waters in December 2000. There is a need not only to maintain but also to restore the rivers and wetlands of the Danube, it was especially important to preserve the natural state of a large number of Islands, located in the Park. This became the basis for the release of the decree 2000.
Named the Park in honor of the island of Persin, which also enters him and takes the 4th place among the largest of all the Islands of the Danube.
The most significant ecosystems of this natural Park – Danube forests, which fills with water, and other territories which are under threat of flooding. Specifically in order to maintain such Park established protected areas under a special control.
For tourists this natural Park formed a special eco-trails, where there are places for recreation and special hiding place where you can quietly watch the birds. By the way, Belém Islands complex is recognized as one of fifty significant places for Bulgarian ornithology. For this reason, in September 2002 it was included in the Ramsar Convention.
In "Persone", as mentioned above, there are protected areas, their 6: reserves "Persiska swamp", "Kitka" and "milk", located on the Islands of the same name, "Kakusha", natural landmark "persin – East" and the natural landscape in the area "Floated".
In addition to the rich natural landscape in this natural Park you can see a large number of historical monuments – churches, castles, archaeological research and necropolises.
