Santiago de Cuba has long been the capital of Cuba, its advantageous location near the Bay of the Caribbean sea gave him advantages for trade development of the city. In the seventeenth century it was decided to strengthen the border of the city and protect it from pirate attacks. Thus was built the famous fortress Castillo del Moro, which subsequently was included in the list of UNESCO Cultural heritage. The construction of the fortress lasted for almost 63 years, and in the end she was so impregnable that the famous Corsair Henry Morgan said: "For the defense of this fortress will be enough for one soldier and one dog". Most likely, such a sturdy build Castillo del Moro was the fact that the castle is perfectly preserved to our times. And after five centuries, the fortress emits impregnable power: bridges, towers, walls, embrasures with guns. This place is famous in the first place so that the inside is the world's only Museum of the History of Piracy. From the first minute tour you get into the realm of corsairs. Pirate clothing, weapons, treasures, coastal waters, part of military ships, paintings of sea wolves, colorful battles...the Museum of the history of piracy is very loved by both adults and children.
