The beer Museum in Sapporo - Japan's only Museum devoted to brewing, and it's free. This is the most popular attraction of the city is also the historical site of Hokkaido Prefecture. The owner of the Museum brewing company Sapporo Breweries, a leading manufacturer of this drink in Japan.
The Museum is located in a brick building of the former sugar factory. The building itself was built in 1890, when in Japan in the Meiji period began the development of business and industry, including agriculture and enterprises for processing agricultural products. The first brewery in Sapporo was opened in 1876, ten years later, it was privatized and created a company Sapporo Beer Company, in 1903, purchased the building of a sugar factory for their production needs.
In 1906, three major Japanese manufacturer of beer - Sapporo Beer Company, Japan Beer Brewery Company and the Osaka plant – merged in brewer Dai-Nippon Beer Company Ltd, which became a monopoly in the Japanese beer market until the end of the Second World war, and then divided into two companies - Nippon and Asahi. In 1964 Nippon brewery again became known as Sapporo Breweries.
The building, which now houses the Museum of beer, served as a production facility until 1965. Two years later, it was attached to the third floor, which posted a exhibition about the history of brewing in Sapporo. After the reconstruction in 1987 the building was the official opening of the beer Museum.
