Castle Wasserburg was first mentioned in written sources in 1185. Aristocrat, Dietmar von Wassenburg is considered the first owner of the castle. Until the 13th century Wasserburg remained in the possession of the family of von Wasserburg, the most notable of whom was Heinrich von Wasserburg, a relative of the famous count von Liechtenstein. The legend says that von Liechtenstein has taken a leading role in the liberation of king Richard the Lionheart. In 1238 nobleman Otto von Haslow took possession of the castle. A couple of years later the property came into the possession of the aristocratic family of Puchberger.

In the 14th century the family von Topel became the owners of the castle, but in 1515 Christoph von Zinzendorf bought the castle. More than four centuries rod Zinzendorf lived in Wasserburg.

During the First world war, the castle functioned as a rest home for soldiers from the front. In 1923, count Carl Hugo Seilern bought the castle, which still belongs to his family.

Castle Wasserburg is located 45 km West of Vienna, capital of Austria. Nearby is the Wachau valley, with its famous vineyards, monasteries, castles and small old villages is one of the most beautiful parts of the country, ideal for sightseeing and leisure.

Today romantic castle in Baroque style, surrounded by a picturesque pond inhabited by ducks and a wide variety of fish. The owners of the castle had it leased for different celebrations. Thoroughbred horses grazing in the paddocks in a historic Park in the shadow of old trees. There is a luxurious outdoor pool, tennis court. For golfers there are several excellent Golf courses in the surrounding area.

In the castle 9 bedrooms, all decorated in the English style. Downstairs is a small lounge, large lounge with fireplace, entrance hall, small lounge.
