Located on the territory of the historic town of Sukhothai national Museum of the Frame Kamphaeng dedicated to the great ancient king of the same state.
In 1960 in historic parkland walked archaeological excavations in 1963, construction began on the National Museum. At the solemn ceremony of its opening on 25 January 1964 was attended by the king Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit.
In 1983, the government has allocated 3 million baht to support the Museum and the construction of additional buildings on its territory on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of Lai su Thai or the Thai alphabet, which was created in Sukhothai. The new building was solemnly opened by the crown Prince Mahavairocana 17 November 1983. Since then it is used as a temporary exhibition hall and auditorium for meetings and lectures.
In the Museum you can see not only last, but also with the modern life of Sukhothai. The exhibition presents artifacts not only from the city of Sukhothai and nearby si Satchanalai and Kamphaeng Phet, as well as of the later of the Kingdom of Ayutthaya. In particular, in the Museum of the Frame Kamphaeng are stone slabs with ancient records, porcelain and ceramics in the style of Sangkhalok, bronze statues of Hindu deities, multiple Buddha statues of various styles and materials, weapons, molds for casting metals and plates inscribed with Buddhist teachings.
Particularly interesting and valuable exhibits is to provide a bronze footprint of Gautama Buddha, carved doors, Chinese porcelain of the yuan dynasty, the kiln, stucco depicting the Hindu goddess of feces, and a large stone bell.
