Botanical garden Teplice, situated in the southern district Shanov, was founded in the late nineteenth century. The founder of the garden, according to local legend, was a rich count Clary-Aldringen. Already by 1904, a small Botanical garden, which at the time was called the word "Stadtgärtnerei", which translated means "City horticultural sector", turned into a magnificent Park, where it was cultivated plants brought from different parts of the world. Local Botanical garden for a long time was the pride of the city, although it was used for growing flowers, which are then sold to vacationers. During the twentieth century in local greenhouses wintered palms, cacti and other heat-loving plants. They are usually sold in private greenhouses or other Botanical gardens in the country.
At the beginning of the XXI century took place the reconstruction of this Park area in which the garden was given a second life. Now it covers an area of 2400 sq. m. Most of the garden consists of a greenhouse, but there are landscaped flower beds outdoors.
At the entrance to the indoor Botanical garden Teplice visitors are greeted by original statue of God Yuma Caixa who was brought in from Mexico. This deity protects all wildlife, so safeguard local greenhouses.
The first greenhouse of the Botanical garden evokes the appearance of a Chinese pagoda. It made the whole team of skilled wood carvers. From this pavilion can be accessed directly in the greenhouse. In the hall devoted to the cultivation of desert plants, you can see rare species of cacti and succulents, over the age of 50 years. They were donated to the Botanical garden local cactusoft V. the Regiment and Professor of botany F. Eckey. Here grow unusual pine trees, brought from the African Savannah.
The tropical greenhouse, which represents a piece of the real rain forest, shakes its collections of flora and even fauna. Small creatures of the jungle are contained here in a few terrariums. In the subtropical greenhouse plants, which arrived in the Czech Republic from the foothills of the Andes and the Himalayas.
