The Teplice Museum Photo: the Teplice Museum

Museum of the city of Teplice is located in the historic interiors of local Baroque castle, which was built in the XVI century on the ruins of the Hussites women's Abbey founded by Queen Judita. From this monastery and began the construction of the Greenhouse. Therefore, local historians believe that the collection of the Teplice Museum in the building, considered the heart of the city.

Some tours involve visits to the manor apartments, a beautiful courtyard and the remnants of the chapel, which includes a perfectly preserved ancient dungeon. The castle complex itself consists of five wings and contains a rich collection of objects found by archaeologists during the works on the territory of the local castle. The majority of the finds date back to the XII century – the time of the founding of the monastery of the Benedictine order. Also here are presented works of art from various private collections, including from the collections of the owners of the Teplice Chateau. Here you can see the bejewelled clocks and watches, coin collection, in which there are rare coins from the time of the creation of the Czech state, tableware and decorative figurines made of ceramics and porcelain, dated XVIII-XIX centuries.

The pride of the Teplice Museum are portraits of the highest Petersburg society. They brought Russian wife of Earl S. L. Ficquelmont, whose daughter married the owner of the castle Greenhouse – count Clary-Aldringen. About this painting collection is legendary. They say that the identity presented in the portraits, were the prototypes for the characters of Leo Tolstoy and Alexander Pushkin. I can add description
