Mount Talinis is a complex volcano on the island of Negros, the height of which is about 2 thousand meters. Another name for mountain – Cuernos de Negros, which means "Horns of Negros". This is the second highest peak of the island after mount Kanlaon. Talinis is located 9 km South-West from the town of Valencia and 20 km from Dumaguete city, the provincial capital of Negros Oriental.

In accordance with the classification of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology Talinis, part of the volcanic belt Occidental, refers to the potentially active volcanoes. The diameter of the base of the volcano – 36 miles, and its peculiarity is that it consists of several volcanic cones, the main of which are Talinis, Cuernos de Negros, Gingaman, Alumium and Gintaman. On all the slopes are steaming fumaroles, which are used to generate electricity.

Among the inhabitants of the Park there are wild boars, civets, monkeys, licenced, Bengal cat, Philippine spotted deer, Visayas warthogs. The bird life is represented by pigeons, sunbirds, hornbills. Unfortunately, the biological diversity of the region Talinis is under threat due to illegal logging, increased flow of tourists and the construction of houses at the foot of the mountain.
