The volcano Canlaon – active volcano located on the island of Negros in 30 km from Bacolod city, the capital of the island and the most densely populated city. The volcano, which is part of the national Park "Mount Kanlaon", created in 1934, has long proved popular among fans of mountain climbing. Kanlaon is also part of the Pacific ring of fire. Nearby there are mountains silay and Bacolod (Negros Occidental).
The volcano – 2435 meters, is the highest peak of the island Negros. Base diameter of 30 km, and the volcano is dotted with pyroclastic cones and craters. Near the top of Canlaon crater lies Lohud and North of crater – the Caldera, known as the Valley of Margah, with a small lake. On the slopes of Canlaon there are three hot springs – Mambukal, Bocalan and Bunghole. And all around, in the thickets of the jungle, hidden several beautiful waterfalls, such as the waterfalls Kipot and Sudan.
The most active volcano in Central Philippines Kanlaon has erupted 26 times since 1886. Mostly it was the eruption of small and medium size with a small amount of ash emitted.
