Castle hill, located in the heart of the Norwegian city of Tønsberg, is a large hill, where king Haakon Haakonson built a fortress to a Royal Palace, monastery and hospital. Walls of stone after many centuries look growing out of the rock.
In 1503, despite its inaccessibility, the Bastion was attacked by the Swedes and was destroyed. Now it was just rubble. The only reminder of the former grandeur remains restored in 1888, seventeen tower standing on a cliff, offering a magnificent view of the city surroundings. On the wall near the entrance to the tower is engraved with three initials of the Norwegian kings.
To ensure that visitors were able to present the appearance of a medieval castle, between the ruins and the tower is his bronze layout, and on the ruins there are signs with historical stories in English.
