Church of the Holy Friday is in the center of Troyan. It is also known under the name "Light Paraskeva (St. Paraskeva).

The Church was built in 1835 and consecrated on 14 October of the same year. In 1877 there was a strong fire, which in Troyan remained untouched by fire only a few buildings. Among them was miraculously survived the Church of Agia Paraskevi. The building was protected by strong stone walls, in some places reaching 1, 6 metres thick. However, burned all the wooden parts – the Holy see, the iconostasis and the altar, Bishop's throne and Church books, many old Chronicles and ancient manuscripts kept in the temple. Remained untouched by fire two large bronze chandelier in front of the altar.

Subsequently the Church was restored. Before the fire on the roof of the building there was a wooden dome. The tower with the dome was re-built in 1905 and restored in a few years. A new dome has the shape of the bulb, uncharacteristic for Church architectural style in Bulgaria. It is covered with metal tiles, which glitters in the sun. In the tower's window inserted stained glass Windows.

The Church is a rectangular Basilica with apse, porch and a small tower with a dome. The North side of the temple is a wide door, over which in the form of the arch plate with carved surface. It depicts St. George. In the niches of the plate above the entrance are images and the St. Paraskeva. On the South side there are two entrances, one of which leads to the altar.

In the temple you can see the unique cornices with sculptures of angels, doves, snakes, dragons, etc. the Color scheme of the image characteristic for the Bulgarian art from the twelfth to the XIVвеков. Icons of the Church were written by various talented painters. The carving was made from 1901 to 1934. The iconostasis, apparently, was created by the masters travinsky school – it is decorated with patterns, images of plants, animals, etc.

The Church of good Friday is an amazing monument of culture, architecture and history of Bulgaria.
