Long time Church of St. Wojciech, founded in the XI century, was the main Church of ústí nad Labem. It is located in the historical part of the city, so we can say that the city itself was built around this temple. In 1538 this town was almost completely destroyed by fire. Suffered and the Church that I forgot for a long period. People had to rebuild the burnt houses and barns, all money left on it, and the temple was taken care of last. Only to 1617, came to his hands. And to thank for the restoration of the Church should not locals, and the Dominican monastic order, who bought land in the city center for the construction of the monastery. The Abbey belonged to the temple, which was considered to be part of it. In the XVIII century the Church was reconstructed, altered facade. Now it was decorated in the Baroque manner. The reconstruction was led by Octavius, Broggi.
During the Communist regime all the items that were in the Church of St. Wojciech, were sold. Currently the building is used for concerts, exhibitions and other special events organized by the city authorities. In 1972, the Church established a new body that size, power, and beauty of sound is the second in the Czech Republic. On Sundays there are Orthodox services.
In the tower of the Church of St. Wojciech has two bells, which were brought here from other churches. This bell 1554, who had previously been in the Church of St. Nicholas in Triibuline, and the piece is dated 1648 year, which adorned the Church of St. Wenceslas in Believable.
