Literary Museum of a name of P. A. Oyunsky in Yakutsk is one of the cultural attractions of the city. The Museum was opened in April 1970, the Museum named after the famous scientist, statesman and public figure and the founder of Soviet literature Yakutia P. A. Oyunsky. Initially the Museum was housed in the house of P. Oyunsky, where he lived with his family from 1935 to 1938, However, in 1980 the Museum was built a new stone building.
In the literary Museum named after P. Oyunsky is an exhibition which shows the history of the development of Yakut literature. Today the Museum exposition consists of such sections as: "the Creation of mass literature", "the Origins of the development of written literature in Yakutia", "Founders of the Yakut literature", "Modern Yakut literature", "Literary organ of the Union Yakut writers" and "Friendship literatures – friendship of peoples".
The Museum's made in the style of 30-ies of XX century. Museum exhibits tell about the history and development of the Yakut literature, from its beginnings to modern times, and also about the creation of mass literature and the origins of Yakuts. One of the sections of the permanent exhibition of the Museum of literature devoted to the repressed Yakut writers. This section includes copies of photographs from personal and investigative cases, copies of documents, the list of repressed Yakut writers (28 people). In addition, on display are personal stands that are dedicated to writers P. Oyunskogo, V. Nikiforov, A. Sofronov, etc.
The Museum complex consists of a memorial house-Museum and Yakut yurta, where there is a social section.
