The Cathedral of Transfiguration today is the oldest surviving and operating temples in the city of Yakutsk. This Cathedral has always been held in high esteem among the faithful. The construction of the magnificent Orthodox Cathedral of the Transfiguration was conducted in 1838 - 1845 the Church was built with funds donated large merchants Solovieva, who at that time was successful suppliers of expensive and valuable materials from Yakutia in the center of the Russian Empire.
Originally the Church was planned by white brick, but Yakut architects have shown a desire to give the new Church a certain solemnity and insisted that the Church was built from red brick. In 30-ies of the Cathedral of the Transfiguration was destroyed by the atheists. Survived him only a dilapidated lower part. It housed various city organizations. The rebirth of the Church began only in 1993 after the opening of the Yakutsk diocese. In 1994, he held the Grand opening of the Cathedral.
