Literary Museum of the city of Zhytomyr is located in an old two-story building on the streets of Kiev, 45. The main direction in the activity of Zhytomyr literary Museum serves as the scientific acquisition, aimed at the preservation of movable monuments of literary and artistic life.
Regional literature Museum in the city of Zhytomyr was founded in December 1990 by the initiative of the public. Its current location, the Museum acquired in 2001, This elegant building in art Nouveau style was built in the early twentieth century popular Opera singer K. Brun.
The literary exposition of the Museum presents three exhibitions. On the ground floor there is an exhibition of works of Zhytomyr theatre artist I. Shevchenko, who is the honored worker of art of Ukraine. Twenty-five sketches to the exhibitions give an insight into the artistic heritage of the artist.
On the second floor is the exhibition dedicated to the life, literary and artistic work of the famous poet-translator tena B. (N. Komicheskogo). This exhibition introduces visitors to life by B. tena, which highlight a number of numerous documents, photos and memorial things.
The third exhibition, which is also housed on the second floor, dedicated to stay in Zhytomyr famous Ukrainian composer M. Skorulsky. The exhibition includes personal belongings and furniture from the former home of the composer, as well as documents and photographs.
The composition of the literary Museum also includes separately located Department - literary-memorial Museum of honoré de Balzac, located in the village verhivnia Ruzhinskaya district.
Today the Museum contains more than 5 thousand exhibits of Museum value. Among them, particularly important are the library and archival materials, a poet and translator B. tena, autographs of Ukrainian writers of the NINETEENTH and twentieth century, sketches for exhibitions, theater, memorabilia Ukrainian writers and artists.
