"Museum center Chukotka Heritage" in Anadyr is the Central research and educational institutions, the Chukotka Autonomous district. The Museum was founded in 2002 as a result of the connection of the Chukotka district local history Museum with the national centre for the protection and restoration of historical and cultural monuments of the Chukot Autonomous area.

The formation of the Museum collection began in 1931 with the creation of the Bureau of local history, one of the main tasks of which was to organize the County Museum and the accumulation of collections. Today, these collections reflect the historical, cultural and natural uniqueness of this region.

In 1935 in the city for the Museum was bought a small apartment house, built by local resident from Nikolaev boarding, the American schooner bearing the name "North Star". In November 1935 in the house took place the opening of the first exposition, the exhibition area which was 34 sq. m. After a while it became a center for the preservation and collection of movable monuments of historical and cultural heritage, and promotion of regional knowledge.

Its 70th anniversary year, the Museum welcomed in the best Anadyr building, erected in 2005 in the latest philosophical and technical execution. The first floor of the Museum took center virtual exhibits hall, where the "electronic storefronts" that are designed to view the works of computer graphics, video art and design. The second floor of the Museum center is designed for temporary exhibitions. The biggest exhibition space is on the third floor is a hall stationary exposures.

In the collections of the Museum center has more than 40 thousand exhibits on different topics. The centre consists of several departments: natural, historical, ethnographic, literary, visual and decorative arts, research and exposition and scientific-methodical, information, accounting and taxidermy lab.

The Museum collection presents photographs and documents, personal belongings and traditional household items, tools, works of fine and decorative arts, as well as other monuments of history, nature and culture, which cover a wide time periods.
