The Bangkok planetarium is the oldest in all of Thailand. It is on the basis of Scientific and education center under the auspices of the Department of non-formal education from the Ministry of education.

The construction of the planetarium began in 1962 with a budget of 12 million baht, 18 August 1964 it was opened. The dome of the planetarium is 20, 6 meters in diameter and 13 meters in height, and has 450 seats. The planetarium uses a projector brand Zeiss Mark IV, which was also used for the largest planetarium in South-East Asia.

In addition to the main room, the Bangkok planetarium includes an exhibition hall, designed for a young audience. The planetarium offers 4 entertainment day for children and adults. Each of them includes two sections: show stars in telescopes, as well as a slide-show lecture, the subject of which changes monthly.
