The Cathedral was built in 1883-1905 years in the style of the Italian Renaissance. It consists of a Central portion surmounted by a large dome and two wings with chapels. The height of the nave is 98 meters.

In the crypt of the Cathedral are 95 sarcophagi with the remains of the kings and the princes of the Hohenzollern dynasty. The Cathedral was badly damaged during the war. Its restoration completed in 1993 with some simplifications – dismantled the Memorial chapel of Hohenzollern.

In the Cathedral often hosts concerts, including organ, as there are excellent acoustics.
