The Royal Villa was built as the summer residence of the late Princess mother Somdej Phra Srinagarindra in the reserve on the mountain DOI Tung near the famous Golden Triangle.
Now the Royal Villa is a Museum, reflecting the results of the work of the Princess on improving the lives of the hill tribes of Northern Thailand. Princess always with great warmth called Villa their home in the mountains of Northern Thailand”.
When planning the construction of the Royal forestry Department has proposed to the Princess to give land for a summer residence, to which she refused. According to Somdej Phra Srinagarindra, it is equal in rights with all Thai citizens, and on the basis of the law took the land on lease for 30 years.
For the first time the Princess had settled in the Royal Villa on November 23, 1988, after 10 months after construction began. Here she worked on their projects on the forests of Northern Thailand and to improve the quality of life of the hill tribes.
The Royal Villa has artful finishing of teak wood and pine. The simple design of the interior reflects the elegance and efficiency, which were inherent to Her Highness.
Top floor of the building includes four sections: private apartments of the Princess, lounge, kitchen and private quarters daughter Princess galyani vadhana.
The highlight of the Villa is the ceiling in the main hall, hand carving, depicting favorite constellations of the Princess. Also in the ceiling are illuminated designed Astronomical Society of Thailand.
