Zilwicki gates is one of the most remarkable buildings of the Palace Park. It is notable structural clarity, poetry and poise. The construction of the gate is referred to 1792-1794, the Author Zilwicki gate – architect V. Brenna, the construction of the gate was carried out under the leadership of K. Plastinina.

Zilwicki gate is like an invitation to Sylvia. Working on the project Zilwicki gates, Brenna, probably came from the fact that it's not front-triumphal structure unlike Birch, Admiralty gate or portal, a gate, opening the entrance to the mysterious woods – "Sylvia". Therefore, from these considerations, the architect was selected composition, scale, interpretation of sculpture and architectural decoration.

In this gate is used by the famous classic, pylons flank the passage arch with a keystone-the mascaron and low archivolt. Pylons contact between smooth entablature, over it goes profiled cornice. Triangular pediment with a profiled frame anchors the composition. But, choosing classical composition scheme, Brenna made this building its details and nuances, which determined its originality.

I Zilwicki gate no frieze and dedicated architrave. The gable in this regard, it seems as though top, which gives the gate the massiveness and squat. Door width is 7, 3 m, height to top of gable – 7, 6 m. Such an aspect ratio, almost corresponding to the square, creates the impression of balance and power.

The front side of the pylons, from the basement, there is a wide frame of straight lines. The gate is decorated with a bas-relief mask depicting mythological forest dweller Sylvanas. It is both a keystone, which marks the middle part of the bend archivolt, and a symbol of the Gatchina Palace Park. With extraordinary skill and sense of the material reproduced by the master of a wide bony face with a low forehead, over which hang in the heavy curls of thick hair, strangely placed eyes, tightly compressed lips, and little curly beard. Architecture Zilwicki gate is in perfect harmony with the stone wall of the Park, built of rectangular blocks and completed acting like a cornice, hob. As in the other constructions Gatchina Park, the impression of it enhances the texture Pudost stone and rhythmic pattern of horizontal and vertical joints of masonry.

Zilwicki gate, which is arranged in the middle of a stone wall, are both "window" and the key of the composition: from them three prospects receding fan alleys. Right leads to the House in the depths of the Park, middle – to the Farm, the left – to the Black gate.
