Church of Kazan icon of the Mother of God is situated in the village of Vyritsa in the Gatchina district. His ceremonial laying took place on July 14, 1913 (old style), 6 July 1914, Bishop of Gdov Benjamin consecrated the temple.

The creation of these places the Church is due to the fact that in 1910 near the station Vyritsa was organized holiday development "Princely valley", the owner of which was Prince Wittgenstein G. F. Suburban location with amazing pine forest and the beautiful Devonian soils quickly built up and populated. New village needed a Church. In August 1912 in the village held a General meeting of the inhabitants on the organization of the Church. At the meeting it was decided to coincide with the construction of the Church to the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty. Commenced a subscription for the purchase of land, which was allocated for the construction of Prince Wittgenstein. To buy land for construction, needed an owner who would be able to purchase it at public cost. Among the summer residents such person was not found. Then it was decided to establish a Fellowship in honor of the icon of Kazan Mother of God, whose Charter was approved in 1912, the Metropolitan of St. Petersburg Vladimir.

The Church of the Kazan icon of the Mother of God, consecrated in the beginning of the First World war, in Virica went through all the hardships and trials that befell the Russian Orthodox Church. Here in 1929 after he closed the Alexander Nevsky monastery, moved father Seraphim, the Confessor of the monastery. Prayer father Seraphim helped the Church survive in difficult times and supported the believers. On the eve of the Soviet-Finnish war in 1938 the Church was closed. Within its premises is the society "OSOAVIAKHIM". Fortunately, Church furniture, icons and other Church utensils servants of the temple and the congregation was able to save. I also managed to save the iconostasis which was made in 1898 by the company of brothers Brusnicyna.

During the great Patriotic war Vyritsa was occupied by the Germans. Vyritsa was not a significant strategic target was the home front for the Germans. It housed the regiment, consisting of Romanian soldiers in the most Orthodox creed. Using this, the efforts of the clergy of the Orthodox Church, which remained in the occupied territory, local residents received permission from the German command to open in Virica the Church of the Kazan icon of the Mother of God. The Church was opened in the beginning of the war. Do not close it until and after the war.

During the reign of N. With. Khrushchev again there was a threat of closure of the temple in Vyritsa. Authorized by KGB Gatchina district, it was ordered to close the Church. For protection of the temple stood the villagers and parishioners: they drafted a petition not to close the Church in the village. Believers went with this document in the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet in Moscow. They managed to overturn the decision to close the Church in honor of the Kazan icon of the Mother of God in Vyritsa.

Today the Church keeps photos of all those who worked in those years, pleasing to God. Among them: I. Orlov, Black F., Rusakov I. Everything about the history of the Church, carefully kept in it. Known the names of all priests who served here. The list opens the first rector of the Church Archpriest FR porphyry Desnitsky. Also in this list, and Archpriest Nikolay Fomichev, who later became Archbishop Nikon Perm. In honor of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Church here was organized by the stand, which tells about the history and founders of the Church.

Today the rector of the Church of the Kazan icon of the Mother of God, FR with his wife and faithful helpmate mother machree and all parishioners are constantly taking care of his Church. The temple has been restored, renovated and updated. Among the parishioners of many young people. Most of the choir are young choristers. This is a clear indication that, through much suffering, persecution, and distress at her collapsed, the Russian Orthodox Church is reborn, like a Phoenix.
