Church of the ascension in Gelendzhik is the oldest building of the city, it is over 100 years old. The Church was built in 1905-1909, in Russian-Byzantine style.

In 1904 Gelendzhik on the village meeting, it was decided to erect on the site of the old wooden bell tower is a new stone Church building.
