The ruins of the castle in visegrád is located North of the village, 5 km on Southeast from the town of Kardzhali, where the Thracian fortress. The name of the castle is of Slavic origin and means "high city". The same name was repeatedly used when naming FORTS some Slavic countries. Among the locals it is known by the toponym "the Hisar USTU" ("Mountain fortress").

The fortress is situated on top of the "Stone Harman". From the East, South and West it is almost impregnable. North side of the fortress is protected by a curved wall extending from the Western side.

During the archaeological excavations 1971 and 1974, were identified and subjected to preservation of the city wall and the inner part of the vyšehrad castle. Wall reaches about two meters wide and one meter in height. If the building is made of coarse stone and a special binding solution in some places the joints between the stones are filled with small stones and earth. The entrance to the fortress is located on the East side and is about two meters in width.

In the yard archaeologists found small huts and surviving founding furnaces. Archaeological excavations were also found many traces of activities of the inhabitants: pottery, millstones, iron tools and weapons, etc. The oldest specimens date back to the period of the bronze and late iron age. Scientists suggest that this place was inhabited from ancient times to the middle Ages.

Also nearby was found 17 Thracian burial mounds burial.
