Azimov mosque Kazan is a national monument of religious architecture. The mosque was built in 1887-1890, on the site of an old wooden mosque 1804, the year of construction. Funds for construction were donated by one of the richest merchants, the owner of two factories - M. M. Asimov.

The founder of the dynasty Mosque of Abdulgafarov, served in the mosque in the position of Imam – Khatib from 1849 to 1888 Then in this position he was succeeded by his son – Hesameddin Abdulvaliyevic of Abdulgafarov (1849 – 1923).

From 1930 until 1992 the mosque was not used for religious purpose. The building was in a derelict state in the center of the industrial area of the city. In 1989, the mosque was returned to the believers. In 1990 – 1992 the mosque was reconstructed and restored. The project of reconstruction of facades and interiors were designed by architect Bilyalov R. V. Now, Azimov mosque is one of the best architectural monuments of Kazan.

Currently the mosque is used by the Muslim community. There is a madrasa and is a wooden house in which he lives Mullah.
