The building of the theater is part of the complex of the Kazan (Volga region) Federal University. It is located in the courtyard, from the back side of the main building of the University. The building is used for its intended purpose. There are classes at students of the University.
The building of the theater was designed by architect M. P., of Corinth, founded in June, 1834. A moleben was served and conducted the blessing of water the construction site. In the base of the building was based on the Board of copper, with the date of the Foundation of the building.
The building is designed in the style of classicism. In plan the building is rectangular projection on the facade of the rotunda. The rotunda is decorated with eight ionic columns on a high base and a spherical dome.
E. S. walesin describes that the Central part of the Cathedral interior was a two-story auditorium in two lights of the same shape of the rotunda. Seats in the lecture hall amphitheater was located. Glazed dome above it was complemented by the lighting. But soon the glazed dome patched. The floor is made of wooden boards was replaced with a coating of ceramic floor tiles. Following the example of other anatomical theatres, on the inner semicircle of the second floor was constructed choruses with colonnade and bars. Lattice decorated medical emblem cast from metal.
In 1847, on the ground in front of the entrance to the Anatomical theatre was a monument to G. R. Derzhavin, which was later transferred to Theatre square (now Freedom square). The monument was destroyed in 1930 and rebuilt in 2003, He was installed in the square on the street.
In the Anatomical theatre was housed in the Department of pathological anatomy, theoretical surgery, operative surgery and topographic anatomy. Later they were transferred to its own building.
The building is in good condition and is a jewel of a University complex.
