KØS Museum is the Danish Museum dedicated to the art in public places. The Museum was opened in 1977 and is located on a pedestrian street, Nørregade in the heart of the charming town of køge. In addition to the collections, the Museum offers visitors a café and gift shop.
As the only Museum in the country that specializes in the art that familiar to everyone, it is unique. There are no complete works. The Museum presents more than seven thousand specimens of drawings, models and other items of preparatory work, which became the basis for the creation of unique works of street art.
A number of special exhibitions gives an opportunity to learn the specifics of the process, the problems associated with the creation of works of art in public places. In addition to sketches, drawings, models here photos, videos that shed light on how artists work together with architects, planners and people who will have daily contact with their work. The Museum is very popular sketches of Bjorn Norgaard. This artist has created designs for the Royal tapestry in the Royal Christiansborg castle, where the Danish Parliament.17 large-scale paintings, and other works of the artist are exhibited in the Museum on the top floor.
