Suna river flowing in the middle part of Karelia is the second longest (280 km) and the third in size of the catchment in the region. The river Suna takes from the small lake kivijärvi, located on the West Karelian upland. To O. Codosera within 30 km of the river is called sun, and after Suna. The river flows into the Kondopoga lip of lake Onega.

Almost a third of the length of the Suna river is a lake, and the rest of the observed rapid course, with rapids and waterfalls. Suna river is very popular among water sports enthusiasts, especially among beginners. Most of the rapids of the River are difficult to pass. The rapids are strong I rock plums in Suna are rare, but should be very careful as to pull in them begins at 30-40 meters and for their inspection need to approach in advance.

Bank competition is mostly rocky, but there are sandy areas with beaches. The terrain is very beautiful, presenting a moraine-ridge plain with small elevation changes. Dominated by uneven-aged coniferous forests, with small patches of grassy marshes and coniferous plantations.

On the river there are several routes 1-2 grade. The Suna slow flow with an average width of the channel about 50 meters. Basically the rapids of the river belong to the first category of difficulty, shallow type, long and hard obnoszenie. The coast is formed from the debris of stones and rarely have a rocky exits. The strongest drop of the river is in the lower reaches of the three waterfalls. The river is ideal for family groups with little preparation, but treated carelessly to safety is not worth it, better if the group has people with the experience of campaigns 2 and 3 categories of complexity.

On all routes of the river there are many good sites, mostly located in the forest. The only settlement on the river not counting lifting/dropping, is the village of Lindoso. The most popular rafting area on Suna starts from the village Porosozero and ends in the village of Girvas.
