The Botanical garden in Linz is one of the most beautiful in Europe. On the area of 43 thousand square meters there are more than 10 thousand different species of plants. The Botanical garden is famous for its fine collection of cacti and orchids. Natural conditions provide a way to group plants in a magnificent natural scenery that visitors were able to present themselves in their natural habitat.
In the early 20th century Botanical garden was created by the natural history Society as a public institution. However, almost all of the plants died during the Second world war. After the war the Board of education of Upper Austria in 1946 he applied for the construction of a new Botanical garden. The garden was opened in 1950 on an area of 1, 8 hectares. In 1961 the area was enlarged through the purchase of adjacent lands. In subsequent years, the Botanical garden has conducted numerous conversions, construction of greenhouses, greenhouses and public buildings. In 2000, the garden was opened to the outdoor theater with 100 seats, conference hall and café, an opportunity for cultural events.
The public part of the Botanical garden is divided into 31 thematic sector. It features a seasonal flower beds, shrubs, beech and mixed forests, endangered species of plants.
