Cultural center in Linz is the artistic institution supported by the Federal state Upper Austria. The purpose of the Cultural center is to provide space for young artists and, as a consequence, the development of new trends in contemporary art. The center has more than 1800 square meters of exhibition and production space for their projects.

A feature of the Institute is a modern, comprehensive concept art, as well as many years of experience in the field of artistic production with an emphasis on installations and media art. In addition, the cultural center also collaborates with regional and international art institutions and festivals.

Founded in the 80-ies of the 20 century is a cultural institution Linz is most proud of its openness to all sorts of experiments. Young creative people have the opportunity to realize their works from the initial idea until its implementation, using for their purposes the whole rich infrastructure of the centre, including a recording Studio and a video Studio.

Contemporary art center has undergone renovation and has been adapted for modern use. The basis used is the old building of the 30-ies. During reconstruction, was developed by a spacious hall, communication center, as well as the exhibition and production space. All reconstructions were performed by the architect Peter Riepl, which in 1998 was awarded for this project. The center has become an example of high quality architecture that is able to create an intriguing link between the old and the new. There was a big open area in front of the building with an area of 4000 square meters. For finishing the interior, not to invite any designers or architects. This was an independent project on its own".

In the Cultural center annually held from 6 to 8 solo and group exhibitions. The only annual exhibition is a musical exhibition "Prix Ars Electronica", which demonstrates the advances in digital music.
